The Foundations of The Encounter
We Believe.
God.
There is one eternally existing God who is three distinct persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. He is the creator of all that exists both visible and invisible. God is perfect in love, power, holiness, goodness, knowledge, wisdom, justice, mercy and grace. He is unchangeable, therefore the same yesterday, today, and forever.
Jesus Christ.
Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is equal to the Father. Jesus lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as a perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on the Cross. He rose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over death and sin. He has ascended to Heaven and will return to earth to rule and reign over all creation.
Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit is equal to the Father and the Son. He is present in the world to make people aware of their need for Jesus. He dwells in every Christian from the moment of salvation. The Holy Spirit gives us spiritual gifts. As Christ Followers we seek to walk under the power, authority and control of the Holy Spirit every day.
The Bible.
The Bible is God’s Word to us. It was written by human authors under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme source of what Christians believe and how they are to live out their lives.
Revelation.
God has revealed himself to us through Jesus (who is the visible image of the invisible God), the Bible, and all of creation.
Salvation.
Salvation is God’s free gift to us, which comes only by accepting Jesus Christ as God’s offer of forgiveness from sin. Salvation occurs the moment one receives Jesus Christ into their life by faith.
Eternity.
Heaven and hell are real places of eternal existence. Everyone will either exist in hell, eternally separated from God, or in Heaven, eternally with God.
The Church.
The Church is the worldwide visible body of Christ, existing to glorify God and proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ. It is comprised of all believers who are unified through the sacrifice of Jesus. All believers are called to be part of a local Church family.
Lifestyle.
Faith in Christ is something to be lived out each day of our lives, wholeheartedly devoting ourselves to the pursuit of Christlikeness.
Our Calling.
The Lord has marked The Encounter to:
Walk in the full expression of the Gifts of the Holy Spirit, especially the prophetic and intercessory prayer.
